The Half-Smokes logos (above) and wordmark (below) were originally created as an alternate identity for the Georgetown Men’s Basketball team. I teamed with the Marketing Director for Georgetown Athletics to create a new brand for the team based on a DC-specific food item in the tradition of Minor League Baseball one-night rebrand projects. The plan was to create new in-arena graphics, do some half-smoke-related promotions during timeouts, and potentially have the team warm up wearing shirts with the logo I created.
Unfortunately, the project had to be scrapped before the season started, but I retained all of the design elements.
In Spring of 2020, The Clinkroom started a weekly design contest where select designs would be put into production if they hit a certain pre-sale number. I submitted the alternate Half-Smokes logo (two half-smokes held by a pair of tongs, creating an “H”) and in November of 2020 hats began arriving for those who ordered.
